What's a Good Life?
| What's a good life? Do you know what it is for you? For me, a good life isn't measured in comfort, but in courage. It's a life that, when reflected upon in your final moments, fills you with pride rather than regret. The kind of life that you'd watch a movie or read a book about. And, a good life isn't one that's easy. A good life is rarely one of comfort and routine and predictability (unless you're one of the few who actually love your life, your job, your relationship, yourself) Because make no mistake: a life worth living demands sacrifice. It demands death—the death of outdated identities that no longer serve you. The death of relationships that keep you small. The death of the script handed to you by society, family, or your own fear. To live a good life requires ruthless self-reflection. It means standing naked before the mirror of your soul and acknowledging both your magnificence and your mess. It means listening when your heart whispers, even as the world shouts you down. Every man I've guided through this journey has faced that moment that terrifying, exhilarating moment when they glimpse the construct they've been living in. When they feel the first tremors of their heart's true calling growing impossible to ignore. That's when true living begins. That's when you must act. A good life isn't accidental. It requires crystal vision of who you truly are beneath the masks. It demands clarity about the relationships you want to cultivate and how you're meant to serve this world. And then, it requires the raw courage to commit to that vision despite every instinct screaming for safety. A good life requires that you become the scriptwriter and the actor of your life, not follow someone else's script or write a script for someone else to follow. Living fully means stepping off the edge with full faith into the unknown. Will you reach your destination? Maybe not. But from my own experience, I promise you this: When you look back at the path you've walked at the end of this life, you'll stand in awe of your own journey. A good life that you and your kin will talk about long after you're gone. A good life is one of many challenges, but minimal regrets. ## Your Call to Adventure What script are you following that isn't truly yours? What identity have you outgrown but still wear like an ill-fitting suit? The time for half-measures and someday-dreams has passed. Your one wild and precious life awaits your courage. Because a life that you build with intention isn't just good. It's awe-inspiring. --- "You know you're on the path when you're perpetually in the unknown." - Amir Khalighi |
